Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
Why did you choose Z-wave for communications?
Z-Wave technology provides the best mix of performance, low power consumption, interoperability and cost in an RF control system. Additionally, Z-Wave offers broad industry support, such as a variety of already available Z-Wave based products, from leading manufacturers in the residential control market. Nevo controllers do not currently control Z-Wave devices, aside from NevoConnect.

Will the new NevoQ50 work with the NevoSL?
A jobsite can have both the NevoQ50 and the original NevoSL, but the two are not able to interact with each other and use the same accessories. NevoQ50 is Z-Wave enabled and is thus NOT compatible with the original NevoLink which is IP based. The two controllers are also programmed in different software suites. NevoQ50 is programmed in NevoStudio Pro. NevoSL is programmed in NevoStudio.

Does NevoQ50 support IR learning?
Yes. NevoQ50 has a dedicated IR learning circuit to learn codes from a source remote. Therefore, you do not need a separate IR learning device to get new IR codes from a source remote into NevoStudio Pro.

What is the NevoConnect NC-50?
NevoConnect NC-50 is a Z-Wave enabled base station that can communicate with the NevoQ50. Here are some of the features of the NevoConnect device: - 6 individually addressable, programmable ports - 7 IR ports (including the front which is also addressable). - 1 way RS-232 output (using accessory) - Power and/or Video sensing (using appropriate accessories) - Confirmation of IR, RS-232 and Power/Video sensing information through 2-way RF (Z-Wave) - Adjustable / removable antenna - 3.5mm ports (compatible with Xantech and other industry standar IR emitters) - Port status LEDs to indicate if a port is currently in use - Signal strength pots to adjust IR intensity up or down for each individual IR port

Why do you show 7 IR ports in the description of NevoConnect NC-50?
In addition to the six 3.5mm IR ports on the back of NevoConnect, there are four IR diodes on the front (behind the IR lens) that can be programmed separately from the six ports on the back. Keep in mind though that all four IR diodes on the front act as one and will thus all blast the same commands collectively.

What's new with NevoStudio Pro?
NevoStudio Pro represents a significant upgrade in features and performance. Key enhancements include: - Ability to program all Nevo devices (NevoQ50, NevoConnect NC-50, NevoLink, etc.) in a single environment. - All Nevo devices installed in a site are stored in a single Job file. You can thus have multiple NevoQ50 controllers in the same Job file, for instance. - Build and share your own personal library of IR and serial (RS-232) devices. - Improved Wizards to reduce programming time for each jobsite. - Even more intuitive drag and drop features.

|
|
Can NevoStudio Pro be used to program old hardware?
NevoStudio Pro can not be used to program NevoSL controllers. NevoStudio 2.02 is required to provide on-going support of already fielded NevoSL controllers. NevoStudio Pro is used to program NevoQ50 controllers in addition to NevoConnect NC-50 and NevoLink devices. Both software applications may run simultaneously on your computer.
